Kansas Campus Compact (KsCC) proposes to implement a statewide youth leadership program that will engage college students in a leadership/mentorship role with community-based youth service groups. Members will be placed in Campus Compact affiliate colleges or universities and linked to established programs in area communities such as 4-H, Kansas PRIDE, or other community-based youth service programs. AmeriCorps members will coordinate with a local program leader to meet regularly with the youth groups to provide team-building, leadership skill development and to assist in identifying, planning, and implementing community-wide service projects. The service projects will empower youth, engage others, and meet a real community need. In addition to the measured increase in knowledge, skills attitude and behaviors of members and youth participants, satisfaction of the campus and community partners will be reflected in evaluative focus group sessions.
