The Kansas Outdoor AmeriCorps Action Team will provide Kansas with a year-round corps of full- and part-time members dedicated to help in disaster response during natural or man-made disasters, provide environmental restoration services to help protect our natural resources and provide educational services to support local schools affected by natural disasters as needed. Members will provide programs on nature-based and environmental topics. Members will continually serve in an environmental capacity with a resource in need of attention and local support – state parks, local communities, and other KDWP-managed areas. Members will provide environmental restoration and education programs. Outcomes include completion of environmental projects to restore, enhance, develop and mitigate the loss of environmental resources. Environmental education outcomes consist of nature-based educational programs to local youth groups, schools and civic groups to help inform and educate individuals on how they can help preserve and enjoy the great outdoors. Homeland security outcomes include disaster response and restoration of those areas effected by disasters, mobilizing volunteers, providing support for professional agencies and patrolling areas with the cooperation of local agencies
