Home Programs Governor's Points of Light Award Past recipients
Recognized January 15, 2010:
Volunteers In Police Service: for their generous contributions to the Topeka Police Department since 1994. They are the eyes and ears that support the department’s crime prevention and public safety endeavors. Each day there are VIPS serving the department in a wide variety of ways, allowing the sworn staff to focus on duties requiring professional criminal justice skills.
Armond Enclarde: for giving many hours of volunteering with Keep America Beautiful – Topeka/Shawnee County since 2005. Armond is a prized volunteer; he is the head of Breaking Barriers a program reconnecting female inmates with their sons. He has arranged transportation for boys statewide traveling once a month to have scout meetings with their mothers. Armond has received high recognition for that program. On his own, he has opened a club for teenagers to have a place to listen to music, dance and mingle with peers.
